The First Hero

The First Hero is the original soundtrack to the 1989 HeroQuest game system — the first chapter of John Debowie's HeroQuest-inspired cycle. Fifteen tracks for fifteen quests: one short prologue (The Quest, the theme Zargon uses to open every game) and one composition for each of the fourteen adventures in the original Quest Book, in order — from The Trial to Return to Barak Tor.

Released in May 2020, the album is designed to be cued by quest at the table: hit play when the heroes step into the dungeon, one track per scenario. From the artist: «As a big fan of the HeroQuest saga I decided to increase the game experience by introducing an element that was probably missing to fully enter the game: a soundtrack.» Each piece picks up the hinges of its scenario and recreates the intrinsic atmosphere of the game.
